Hogwarts Legacy Review: Great immersive experience for fans
Published: 20 May 2024

Hogwarts Legacy is a must buy.

For any Harry Potter fan, this game is a long-awaited must-play, an RPG that is a product of nostalgia and dreams that everyone who watched it wanted to be a part of. Even if you are not a Harry Potter enthusiast, this game fulfils every aspect an RPG should, with its open world containing an exceedingly well-designed Hogwarts castle, with hundreds of realistic rooms (including one which you can decorate yourself), alongside an elegant Hogsmeade.

The game, which is set during the 1800s and a prequel to the films, has an extensive map, which you can glide across on a broomstick or Hippogriff as a personalised witch or wizard learning spells and battling goblins.

After creating your character, you are transferred to Hogwarts as a fifth-year student, get assigned to a house by the sorting hat and befriend many classmates who help you improve your magical prowess. Many of them have a unique storyline (some better than others) allowing you to make strong emotive relationships and gain experience across the map.

The story is incredible, arguably better than the actual films themselves, where you can explore the origins and founders of the wizarding school, gaining different spells.

Samurai Warriors 4 DX brings players back to Japan’s ancient battlefields, with the latest update’s Samurais making the outdated fighting gameplay once again shine.

These acquired spells add to your fighting repertoire, marking the combat truly captivating and a great success, where you can combine the spells in fascinating combinations. However, the variety of enemies you face is limited in comparison to the films. The game is fascinating, with the founders of Hogwarts giving you backstory into the school and terrible events that have occurred, sometimes they take you back in time and you live in the past.

Gaming Scene of Hogwarts Legacy

With over 100 different side quests, some may think the developers prioritised quantity rather than quality, but this was not the case, with each one being as exciting as the last, packed full of adventure. It might also annoy you that despite an excellently designed Quidditch arena, you cannot actually play it, even though they have perfected flying on broomsticks.

Overall, the game has covered all the fundamentals required for a truly brilliant RPG, providing a Harry Potter enthusiast with new knowledge of the world of witchcraft and wizardry. It is well-designed, maybe a bit glitchy in some areas and sometimes has a long loading time, by all and all it is a masterpiece.
